Bizzare transparent cross hatching issue?

Whenever I import a clip into videopad, be it recorded with a camera or a screen recorder, a large portion of the video becomes transparent. When I drag it into the video track, those areas become black, and it ends up looking like this:

Anybody have any idea what this is, why it's happened, and how to make it not happen?

It's unclear what the video shows; doesn't appear to be VP, but rather various apps loaded from the Desktop.

Specs for your machine? Consider installing the latest video driver from the chip or card manufacturer's WEBsite.

I was about to write much of what borate wrote. I see nothing involving Videopad on that video. I suggest that you redo the video and include an audio track so we can at least hear you talk about what is shown. Just guessing, it looks more like a graphics card or color/contrast problem, but it's hard to guess.

The video is an example of what happens when I import a clip, which had previously played fine, into videopad. I just used a basic screen recording I had lying around. I'll try to get a better video showing it within videopad, but audio is a no-no because the only way I can add the audio in is buy USING videopad, and then you won't be able to see it.

This is the link to the manufacurer's website page for the laptop, with the specs on, because it seemed silly to copy it all.

I've been using videopad fine on this laptop for a while, so it seemed unlikely that the graphics card or whatever had suddenly just broken. I assumed I'd pressed a button or changed a setting, but I tried a re-install and it still happens. I don't get this with any other programs.
