analog vs cable phone line

I don't know if anybody ever looks at these forums anymore, but just in case:

Does anyone know whether it makes a difference if you are using a cable vs an analog phone line? I am having problems with Dial Dictate suddenly saying "press 9 to continue" when the dictator has not stopped talking, or suddenly rewinding to the beginning of a dictation while the dictator is still talking.

 

I used this program for years without any problems and then switched my phone service from AT&T to Comcast (in San Francisco).

 

Might this be a reason for the problems?
