Burn speeds on Express Burn and eject CD

Hi. I've had loads of bother with Easy CD 4(!), and this works fine, and is so easy to use. However it won't burn my CD's any faster than 2x, and when it's finished it says it has ejected the CD, but it hasn't, and the "write light" on my burner keeps going until I quit express burn, though the CD's seem ok (audio and data). Any Ideas, any one? I'm running Win 98 with a Goldstar CD/RW 8080B.
