  1. Hello, I've added subtitles for a video on videopad but when i try to export it, it does exports the original video without any subtitles. Can anyone help?? Inbar
  2. Hello everyone, There are odd problems with subtitling in languages that appear from right to left, in my case Persian (Farsi). The problems include: Wild behavior with regards to punctuation. For example period (.), comma (،), exclamation mark (!) appear reversely in a line i.e. if I put them at the beginning of the line they appear at the end. and vice versa. Some other punctuation marks work just fine, including question mark (؟). Punctuation in the middle of the line (with one or more words both before and after the punctuation mark) works without a problem. The workaround right now is to beat VideoPad at its own game i.e. put the punctuation mark at the end of the line if you want it to actually appear at the beginning, and vice versa. Uncontrollable behavior with regards to numbers at the beginning of the line. Whenever numbers (digits, obviously) are supposed to appear at the beginning of the line, they actually appear at the end. This time the workaround for punctuation marks does not work i.e. even if you put the number at the end of the line, it remains there instead of appearing at the beginning. In other words, there is no way to start a line with a number without it appearing at the end. Numbers in the middle of the line (with one or more words both before and after the number) work perfectly, as do numbers at the end of the line. Unknown behavior with English words and Persian words in the same line. I am yet to discover a regular pattern for how VideoPad treats a line with both Persian and English (Latin) words. All I can tell you right now is you have to play with the line to (hopefully) get it right. Other problems which I hope other users who try to subtitle in Persian (Farsi)/Arabic/Dari an other RTL languages, will bring up in this topic. I live and die by VideoPad. It's the perfect program for me for simplicity, speed, versatility and quite some other features, as evidenced by creating this topic in hopes of the problems with RTL subtitling going away in future updates. Thanks, in advance, for everyone contributing to this topic.
  3. I have added subtitles to a music video and I'd like them all at the bottom of the screen. But the first few change position on the screen before they settle at the bottom. The "format" option in Sequence - Subtitles allows them to be top, middle or bottom. I've set them all to bottom but the first few are near the bottom but not at the bottom. Does anyone know a fix for this? Alan
  4. Hi all, I'm fairly new to VideoPad and I had loaded up an MKV video which comes with a separate .ass file for the subtitles. I have no problems importing the MKV file and is able to play it within VideoPad but when I drag the video file towards the bottom of the screen [Video Track 1] and click on the Subtitles on the tools on top, a new window pops up which allows me to: Add, Auto Generate, Load, Save etc etc. I then tried to Load the .ass file that's located within the same folder of the MKV file but to no avail. It just gives me an error of ' Could not open the subtitles file. ' Is there any possible fix for this or am I loading the .ass file wrongly? I tried using VLC to test if the .ass file is faulty but it works fine there, so I think it's just an exclusive error to VideoPad. If there's anyone experienced with VideoPad that can assist me, that would be nice, thanks in advance. edit: I also tried it with another MKV file with another .ass file which also gave me the same error.
  5. So, i have Videopad 10.64 and i wanted to insert subtitles in a 10 minutes clip, why is the auto generate subtitles not working? I have selected Microsoft English recognizer 5.1 as Speech to text engine, but it doesn't seem to be working. Anyone knows how this function works? Thanks.
  6. I use the free version of VideoPad, mostly to subtitle videos for my friends who don't speak Korean. A new problem I have encountered is that after I have done all the subtitles, when I export the video the subtitles aren't in it--even though I have clicked 'apply' in the subtitles tool and they DO show up in the preview pane. I haven't encountered this in the past months I've been using VideoPad: only recently. I have been fooling around with it to try and get it to show my subs again. It seems like the subs will show up if I leave the shadow set at 100% opacity, and not show up (in the exported video) if it is any less--I had previously been setting the opacity at around 80% since it's less obtrusive. Is there a fix for it? The solid black shadow behind the subs does work but it's a lot uglier than being able to do it translucent as I had been doing before. Thanks for any help.
  7. I was working on a video earlier, and I've run into two main issues while I was adding the subtitles. The first is the overlapping of new subtitles. What happened was, for example, I type something out, and its duration is from 0:00.000 to 0:03.000. And then I try to add another line right after it. When I do this, however, it automatically regresses by 0:00.001, meaning that the newly added subtitle begins at 0:02.999, thereby making me have to fix it for each line. I was wondering if this is a bug, and if there is a way to circumvent this minor inconvenience. Another issue was that sometimes, the subtitles simply refuse to stay at their positions. This usually happens when I set the subtitles at say, Horizontal: 10 and Vertical: 10. The offset is reset whenever I click Apply and exit out, and no matter how many times I've tried to fix it, it just wouldn't budge. Is there something that I'm missing here?
  8. Hi everyone! I need your help because I am a very beginner! I have previously subtitled a movie in the trial version. I really enjoyed it, so I bought the v8.96 version. Now I can't subtitle the movie because after loading the text file, the video appears in the subtitle sequence1 with a wide black bar above and below the video. The text is huge! but now I am unable because of the problem! Please help me to solve it! If I may ask you described, step by step what I need to do! Thank you very much in advance for your help! Thank you very much in advance for your help! Best regards Zsuzsi from Hungary
  9. I generated a subtitle file using Audacity. Ran the Label2srt jar (https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Movie_subtitles_(*.SRT) ) Could not view the output properly in editors, such as notepad++. Figured, maybe it was a npp problem, so I loaded the file into Videopad. Each line was loaded twice, but the first line had unprintable characters and the second line was loaded correctly. Of course, since the times of each of the pairs of lines was identical they superimposed on each other making the subtitles unreadable. Of course, I could manually delete every other line, but for an hour and a half video that is a bit much. Any clue what may be going on? Thanx for any assistance.
  10. It seems that every single time I add or alter a subtitle, Videopad feels it is necessary to rebuild the entire preview from the start. What this means is that the further along I go adding subtitles, the harder it is for me to add subtitles. I want to check to be sure each subtitle is correct before going to the next, but because it rebuilds previews from the very beginning each time, I have to wait for the preview, which can take minutes, even for a change that looks only a few seconds. Sure, I can TRY and view it, but it does not give an accurate view, skips over scenes, etc. until the preview is reconstructed. Why can't it simply rebuild from the point of change rather than the beginning?
  11. While adding in subtitles, I have again and again realized that I had the format tab set to "All Subtitles" usually after adding in and formatting quite a few. This means I have to abandon the edit and start over. Is there any way to get the format tab to default to "Selected Subtitles" automatically?
  12. Hi. I have downloaded a video file and related subtitle file from Microsoft Stream and am trying to edit it in VideoPad. I have loaded the MP4 file and am trying to load the subtitle file so I can edit together but when I try to upload the subtitle file I get the "0subtitles successfully loaded" message. The subtitle file is a .vtt file and has the same name as the mp4. Thanks for any help
  13. After adding captions throughout an entire sequence, I need to insert a clip at the beginning. When I do this, the captions don't shift! 1. How do I lock the captions to the video? 2. If this is not possible, how best to bulk shift the timing of all captions (after the point of clip insertion, whch in this case is the very beginning of the sequence but might not always be so). 3. Should I be captioning via some mechanism other than "subtitles"? Thanks for your attention.
  14. Hello, thank you for great software, however I just have an issue with my subtitles. When I import srt file, the subtitles which are in Czech language don't display correctly. Seems like coding problem. Usually most of softwares have have an option to set font encoding but I couldn't find it in Videopad. My text looks like this: Upmn odpov it suposed to look like this: "Upřímná odpověď by byla" Thank you in advance for your reply.
  15. I am attempting use the Subtitles feature of VideoPad to put my website URL on the bottom of an hour long sermon. It is telling me that "Show must come before Hide." This I already know, but it won't let me input the appropriate timing. What am I doing wrong?
  16. For these couple years that I've been using VideoPad, the default subtitle size has always been 18. This size is way too big. I suggest the default size to be somewhere between 5 and 8. Big sizes are only good for YouTube thumbnails.
  17. Hello, I need to add a subtitle on a part of the movie, but it needs to contain a background color fill, so it blends in over the movie's yellow background (and also covers part of it - so transparent won't do). I added the subtitle with the yellow background, but a gray-ish border appears around the rectangle where the subtitles are, noticeably at the bottom and at the right. That is, the subtitle contains a border, that is not in the same color as the selected background. This rectangle does not appear when the subtitles don't contain any background at all. Why is this border being added (and in a color different from the selected background)?
  18. I have some videos which have Korean soundtrack and Thai subtitles burned in. I have english subtitles in SRT format. I have added the english subs with a black background to mask out the thai subs and exported the video in the same format as it was. Everything looks great with almost zero quality loss but every 15 minutes or so the video will freeze for about 5 to 10 seconds.I am just using the free version. I was going to buy it as it does a great job and is easy to use but if this problem persists I cant use it.
  19. What I'm really looking for here is advice. The context is that my goal is a DVD with three tracks. Two already exist in standard, 4:3 size. My current activity in VideoPad is the third track for this DVD. Windows and VideoPad say the source file (from a DVD) is 720 x 378 (or 40:21) but QuickTime calls it 640 x 378. When I make a DVD, it looks better in standard. All of the interest is in the center of the screen; the edges don't matter. I also don't know who will view this on a consumer DVD player and who will view it on computer. So I'd like to set it all up to be as universal as possible. The existing two have a little text at the beginning of each. But the current 10-min., 5-chapter VideoPad project will have four "title slides" (max. 60-70 char. but mostly much less) and a dozen or so subtitles in each of four chapters. And that's where the trouble starts. When I produce standard size, all the title slides need to be made smaller, but they look great in widescreen. But in *BOTH* sizes, my subtitles are cut off at the bottom. I fiddled with picture size on my widescreen TV but didn't improve upon the TV's native intelligence. All my subtitles are set at 5% size and I see that I can adjust the vertical margin. Setting it at 5 looks good on my computer screen. But I haven't gone and produced another two DVDs to check that out. Sooooooo ... I'm trying to simplify my life here. Given no idea how/where a DVD will be played (and little taste for re-working old files): 1. I'm guessing that producing 4:3 is safest. Yes? 2. What size type would you use for title slides? 3. What size should subtitles be and what would be your ideal bottom margin? 4. Or, am I worrying to much? Will the lettering and margin in a 4:3 video look about the same size (in proportion) on any kind of machine? 5. And as long as I'm at it, my subtitles are readable but look quite blurry. Any advice about sharpening them? The underlying video is not super-sharp. The title slides (larger font) look better. (The original camera files (AVI) look blurrier than file ripped from the DVD, which baffles me.) Apologies for such a long post and sincerest thanks, Jeanne
  20. I'm trying to add subtitles to a video project consisting of three types of clips: 1 a person talking to the camera, filmed in AVCHD format 2 a person teaching a class, filmed in VOB format 3 some blanks clips with text added I want to add the subtitles to the clips in AVCHD format, to give a written version of what the person is saying. When I start adding the subtitles to a clip, it all looks fine when I first test the sequence - but in subsequent playbacks, the subtitles appear late, and completely out of sync with what the person is saying. The time each clip starts and finishes does not correspond to the show and hide times that I've specified - they start a second or two later, with the gap getting longer and longer as the clip progresses. The problem is still there in Preview and after building a movie in YouTube format. Using text boxes instead of subtitles is not really an option - each subtitle is too short (just a few words of speech) to set the in and out points accurately. I'm using Videopad Professional v 2.41 Any ideas about what I might be doing wrong, or is this perhaps some sort of software bug? Would upgrading to the latest version solve this?
  21. I just exported a litle 4 minute video and when I played it i realised that the subtitles are missing. I opened the project and previewed it in the video editor (3.12) and I noticed a strange behaviour (if enybody encountered the same, plesae give an advice): the subtitles are well added (i see them when i clik the subtitles button) but when i preview the video they are not visible - but they become visible if I PAUSE the preview playback when the cursor is over the part where the subtitles should be, and then if i resume right after that (very strange)??? In the exported video the pause/resume trick doesen't work, of course. Any advice, would be great! Thanks, Marijo
  22. I've looked through everything, all of the support pages, and none lists how to add special effects to subtitles (such as text flying in). So my question is, is it even possible to add effects to subtitles or am I going to have to find 3rd party plugins to do such effects?
