  1. I am new to video editing and would greatly appreciate it if someone could advise me regarding "Device Settings", "Encoder Settings" and "Property" Settings for video capture please. I am using a video capture device with the red, yellow and white RCA plugs (plus S Video) with a USB connector for the PC. My PC is 3.6Ghz, 16 GB of RAM, Windows 10. I have the latest version of Videopad and plenty of spare disk space. I would like to capture video from the following devices: Sony Digital Camera/Recorder (Mini DV Cassette tapes); Sony Handycam Camera/Recorder Hi8; and a standard VHS player. In the "Record"-> "Record Video" under the "Devices" window I have selected "USB 2861 Device" (there is no other choice); "Line (Master AV Cap)" - I assume this is my capture card - the only other choice is a mic I have connected; and "640x480 [4:3] 29.97fps" which is top of the list and therefore I assume it is the default. Under the "Device Settings" -> "Properties" ->"Video Decoder" tab the only change I have made is to select "PAL_B" instead of "NTSC-M" which is what it was when I first opened Videopad. I have NOT checked the "VCR Input" box. I have not made any changes to the default settings under the "Video Proc Amp" or "Video Image" tabs. As I am using the "640x480 [4:3] 29.97fps" setting (default???) should I check the "Video Input" box in the "Video Decoder" tab when I use the VHS player AND the cameras or should it only be checked when using the VHS player? Or should I not check it at all? Also, in the "Video Image" tab should I change "Pic Size" from "Default" to "640x480" to match it to the "640x480 [4:3] 29.97fps" setting? On burning my first effort to DVD (burnt at 4:3) which I took from video captured on my Sony Digital Camera/Recorder (Mini DV Cassette tape) reproduction was reasonably good but there were times with fast moving subjects when their image momentarily "ghosted". When the recording was taken (some 20 years ago) the camera was set to "Very Fine Picture Quality" in order to capture fast moving people and objects. For capturing the images I had Videopad set to "640x480 [4:3] 29.97fps" and "PAL_B" - no other changes were made to the default settings. Is anyone able to suggest how I might obtain the best quality capture and DVD reproduction through my cameras and VCR please? Thank you.
  2. Hi all, when I export to a Blu-ray disc, I always get 23.97 fps instead of the "Advanced" setting value I have entered during the export dialog. In my concrete case, I tried a single 50sec clip from Sony XR550E recorded as 50i, and naturally wanted to export it to the Blu-ray disc as 25 interlaced (and not 24p nor 60p). I both burned a disc (plays at 60p!), and also burned an image (Win10), and played it from the image with VLC which shows metadata FPS as 23.97.... Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? My version is 5.32 (OK, it's not the latest but I would have to pay for an upgrade and I am happy with it otherwise). Thanks for any hint!
  3. Hello, i am a user of VIDEO PAD. let me leave one question here as i do not know where i should write. question : how should i set the frame rate in the sequence? in my case, my material video's frame rate is 23.976, so i wish sequence setting should be the same. but there seems not to be here only 15.00,24.00,25.00,29.97,30.00 on the window of preview. please give me that instruction. thanks
  4. Hey guys As you know I've been concerned about the speed of exporting videos with release 4.58 and above (before then they seemed to generated more quickly). I know NCH is aware that not all CPU power is being taken by the export (and will hopefully speed it up soon) but that aside Borate (or possibly one of the other tech specialists) mentioned that the export fps could affect the time if the video output was not the same fps as the source video(s). So this week I generated my entire video with an fps of 20 (for both cameras) and exported with the same fps (usually I export at 25fps as per YouTube recommendations). It definitely seemed to export more quickly - quicker than real time which was my recent experience with VP. Can this be true? Incidentally the video quality at 20fps vs 25fps was (to my older eyes anyway) indistinguishable. So my 20 minute video finished in about 15 minutes this week, hurrah! Just to muddy the water a little, this was the first video I generated with 16Gb installed (instead of 12Gb) but I didn't really see much more memory being used anyway so maybe this had no effect? Anybody know about fps and export speed, either NCH or other users? Video generated: .mp4 format, 8192 bps, 128 kHz audio, 20fps
  5. Hi all, I have source video in 50fps, i prepare project with logo etc., export in 50fps, details video file say: 49 fps. it's normal ? YT say 48fps (i now 50 or 48fps). Regards, Tomek
  6. I have version 3.61 for Windows, running on Windows 7. Everything works fine, but when I export a sequence to file, the dialogue box specifies a MAXIMUM frame rate. My original clips are 1080p, recorded at a fixed frame rate of 25 fps. If I specify 25 fps (PAL) for the output file, the resulting video, regardless of format (e.g. AVI, MP4) or codec (e.g. H.264, mpeg-2), will be written with a VARIABLE frame rate. Mediainfo will report the video as having a frame rate of anywhere between 8 and 25 fps, with an average of 23.8 fps. Now, upload sites such a Vimeo, have a preference for video files to be recorded with a CONSTANT frame rate. Regardless of this, I wish for my output files to have a constant frame rate, matching the recorded clips. My question is therefore... How do I export a video file with a specified constant frame rate rather than the variable rate that Videopad seems to produce? Thanks.
  7. For the purpose of making digital cinema packages i need to generate image sequence files and separate wav files at high resolution (2048x858 pixels) and a specific bit rate (48.000). My favorite videopad can do this, but: it generates to little images per second! Anyone knows how to change the framespeed? The other export possibilities can. Thanks.
