  1. Well, I'll try to be concise, my problem is that I'm trying to edit a video and put text on the top of the video without blocking the actual video. Is there any way to do this and if that's the case; how? Thankful for answers
  2. Hi. I´m new to VideoPad. My first project contains a video on Track 1 and a few occasional still photos on Track 2. My problem is that my photos have another aspect ratio compared to the video (which is more wide screen). When the photos are showing I want black stripes on each side of the photo. I DO NOT want to see Track 1 as stripes to the left and right of the photo. On my very first attempt to export the film I got exactly that - black stripes left and right. So I know it can be done. Now, after a few adjustments to my project, I cannot achieve that anymore. It looks allright in the preview, but the exported film shows Track 1 as stripes lift and right of the photo. Unable to find the settings which gave the desired result in my first attempt. What´s the magical trick?
  3. I have two mobile phone style aspect ratio videos and I want to have them side by side on the screen at the same time so they run next to each other and it looks like the people in the videos are next to each other, I have a few ideas of how to start, ('m thinking I may have to encode the videos before I try to put them together so they have black panels either side etc) but after that really no ideas, can you help? Is it possible? Illustration picture included: https://ibb.co/M92rs4Y Thank you in advance!! 😃😃
  4. I was working on several projects, and for each, I've added an image to use as my title cards. Theoretically speaking, the title cards should be identical as they are using the exact same ones. However, in one of the projects, there are black borders at the sides. When I checked the image's property for each file, the aspect ratio was the same at 1920 x 1080. There aren't any effects being used either, as they are merely dropped into the timeline. What could be causing this discrepancy amongst the projects? Any help is appreciated.
  5. Hello, I have recorded in OBS Studio a video with resolution 2560 x 720 (32:9), basically two screen outputs of 1280 x 720 next to each other. I want to edit now the video in Videopad Video Editor, in order to keep the left screen for a certain time, and then keep the right screen for a certain time, and write the resulting video to 1280 x 720 (16:9) resolution. When I open the video in the bin, Videopad scales the canvas to a size of 2560 x 1440 (16:9). I try to change the format to my own, by rightclicking the context menu and checking "Change Clip Aspect Ratio...". However there is no aspect ratio that satisfies my needs. 32:9 is not in the list. The workaround is not satisfying. In that case, I split the video in two parts. In the first part, I crop the right screen output and centre the left screen output. In the second part, I do vice-versa. Now I end up with a centred 1280 x 720 video, on a canvas of 2560 x 1440. I should now "shrink the canvas" to 1280 x 720, but that does not seem to work. I can scale the centred video with a factor 2, and then again export the video to 1280 x 720, but that clearly leads to quality loss. Is there a way to "shrink the canvas", or to define your own aspect ratio ? Thank you in advance, Wim
  6. Hello. I recorded footage that was supposed to be 4:3 but accidentally became a 16:9 video. Now I want to fix this by using VideoPad to export the video to 4:3. The problem is, that VideoPad adds black bars to the top and bottom of the video. I assume that VideoPad does this so I maintain the aspect ratio. But I do not want to maintain the aspect ratio, I want to change it. (to 4:3) Cropping the image is no option, as important parts would be lost. To make it more clear with an example: 1. This would be the the original video file. It should be 4:3 (perfect squares) but is 16:9 (stretched squares) instead: 2. This is the video that I want VideoPad to export. The aspect ratio changed to 4:3 to remove the stretching and to get the perfect squares: 3. But this is the video that I actually get from video pad. Same unwanted aspect ratio, but with black bars added: What I do: I click on export, I manually insert the exact 4:3 resolution that I want. Then I get to choose: "Crop Edges" "Resize to Fit" "Cancel" I chose "Resize to Fit". Crop is no valid option. I get the same stretched visuals from the picture at 1., but with parts of the image missing on the left and the right: So please tell me that there is a way to actually change the aspect ratio of videos with your software. (And not just the resolution of the file, while the video stays the same, with black bars top+bottom or information missing left+right.) Re-recording the footage is not possible, and I don't think that I'm asking for sorcery.
  7. Relative newbie here. My slides have 4x3 aspect ratio, so exporting the slideshow at 1920 wide, the height should be 1440. However, when I try to set 1920x1440 as a custom resolution, PhotoStage says "Please enter a height that is no more than 1080." As PhotoStage export other aspect ratios with more than 1080 in height, this limitation seems arbitrary. Of course I can use 2560x1440 but this puts wide black bars on the sides. Of course, it's possible I'm missing some basic insight here.
  8. I have a little excerpt from an old movie that I want to use. It has fluffy borders (with round corners) and the aspect ration doesn't match my project. It would be okay if I could just enlarge it (with the center of the source pinned at the center of my output video) What functions should I use for that? (NB This would seem something simple that I should be just discovering myself by trying, without asking, but I'm having some trouble with the program as detailed here, hindering my learning curve. So, this is sorta theoretic until I get my program debugged.)
  9. In every other program on the web, if you LEFT CLICK and grab an edge of the frame - it should maintain the aspect ratio (at least that's the way it is in just about every other paint or edit program in the world). But here you have to select 4:3 ot 16:9 (which is also not in a dropdown menu instead of the main menu - just one more step to go through). Then you have to CLICK maintain aspect ration. Why not just do what everyone else does and make it so that when we LEFT CLICK and grab the edge it automatically maintains the aspect ratio???
  10. detox

    black border

I have my aspect ratio set to 16:9 and that lines up with my resolution. Nevertheless im getting black borders around the screen on the recording. Anyway to really get a 16:9 on video output?
  11. VP newbie here. I have a little clip that's shot with the camera turned 90°, i.e., the aspect ratio is 9:16. How can I get VP to rotate the aspect ratio so the video is in the same orientation as the camera was? (Just to be extra clear, I do not want black on both sides of the image.) Many thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm trying to make a 720x480 video using what should be 720x480 clips. However, when I imported the clips into VideoPad, the program changed the image and made it skinnier (I think to a 4:3 format) and also added black bars on the sides. I've tried seeing if the crop option would work to get rid of these bars, but the bars don't even show up under the crop effect. The zoom effect doesn't help either as using it would lose more of the video than I wish to. Adjusting the aspect ratio of the output file seems to have no effect on removing the bars either. Originally I was making a video with the same source on Windows Movie Maker (which did not have this issue) and I downloaded VideoPad after it kept freezing on me. I just want to be able to make my video in the format intended.
