Hey all, I'm pretty desperate for any advice someone might have for me...I'm freaking out! Today I updated ExpressScribe on my computer because it was performing poorly. I've been using the free version for the past 2 years with only minor issues, such as occasional freezing and lag. Today, the program for some reason was having severe issues with playback so I thought it probably just needed an update. Not so! It only made things worse. I discovered that Express Scribe no longer seemed to recognize my foot pedal (Infinity IN-USB-2) at all! Even though it had been working for the most part up until this point, Express Scribe no longer seemed to see it as a valid foot pedal--or even a foot pedal at all. The screen indicated that there was no device recognized at all. My next course of action was to buy the professional service, since a family friend had similar issues when her "free trial" ran out. I figured it was a gimmick to force people to buy the program but I felt like I had no choice, since there's no comparable transcription software out there that's actually free of charge. I purchased the professional software for $40.00 (not the standard but the advanced license). Unfortunately it appears that the pedal is STILL not recognized at all by ExpressScribe! When I open the application and go to Preferences>Controller setup wizard, it claims that there is no plug and play foot pedal connected at all, when that is clearly not the case. Even with the updated, professional purchased version! When I click on "plug and play controller diagnostics", I get the following message: Plug and play controller diagnostics for Express Scribe Transcription (Registered) v 6.04 (Mac OS X 10.10.5): No devices found --- End --- I am very frustrated because the program worked just fine with the free version just yesterday, and today it was acting up and freezing so I purchased it thinking that would resolve the minor issues, and it escalated into a severe issue where it is literally not even possible for me to use the program with this pedal anymore. This seems suspicious because this particular pedal is listed as a compatible pedal for the professional software. I plugged my pedal into a family friend's computer (she is also a transcriptionist and also uses ExpressScribe, but she has an older version of the program, 5 point something, with the basic licensure whereas I have 6.4 with the professional license), and the pedal worked on her computer. It is clearly a software issue and not a pedal issue. I have time-sensitive work that needs to be completed and I will be forced to use another transcription program if this problem is not resolved. I paid good money to have a program that actually works! I may also ask for a refund if I don't see this problem resolved soon, as it is currently a complete waste of money for me seeing as the program is blatantly not working at all for me. I thought maybe it might have something to do with my iOS as I just recently updated it on my laptop but that was in the beginning of the month. Like I said, this program was working pretty well up until today. I have no idea what to do at this point! I've even resorted to looking into other transcription programs, but seeing as I've paid for this one, if I can get it to work, it would obviously be ideal. Any (fast) advice would be appreciated.

Can Express Scribe or any other NCH product create closed captioned files such as .scc, .cap, or .srt? Thanks for any guidance.

I'm using express scibe on two apple computers in the same time (my secretary and I). The storage of all my dictation files is in the folder "DOCUMENT" wich I share and synchronize through Icloud (for Mac). It worked perfectly for a long time but since a couple of weeks I have lot of problems with Icloud synchronization (thousands of files waiting for synchronisation and nothing it freeze). I think the problem comes from the Express Scribe program. Does anybody uses ICloud the same way I do and is it perfectly working for you ? Maybe somebody have another way to use Icloud drive to share Express scribe dictation files ? Thanks for your help and comments and sorry for my poor english :-)

After setup on NEC Infinity, I'm not able to get the foot pedal to work for rewind or fast forward. Only play works. I've tried everything. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?

I am interested in working as a work-from-home transcriptionist and I am interested in using the Express Scribe Practice Transcription Files on https://www.nch.com.au/scribe/practice.html, but I am confused. Near the top of that page it says, "Get Express Scribe Free The free version of Express Scribe supports most common audio formats including wav, mp3, wma, aif and dct and does not expire, making it perfect for learning before moving to the professional version. Download the free version here." But at the bottom it says, "Download Express Scribe Transcription Playback Software Download Express Scribe for Windows Download Express Scribe for Mac" What is the difference between "Express Scribe" at the top of the page and "Express Scribe Transcription Playback Software"? Do both links on this page lead to the same program, or are they two different programs? I tried to send this question using the Scribe Technical Support page, but it's asking me to download a demo program before I send the question. What demo program are they talking about? I also see this on that Technical Support page: "Please download the demo before contacting us. It's quick and helps answering many questions. Download the program now" Professional technical support is for customers who have purchased our software. Buy the program now to get support. What program or programs is this referring to? I wanted to call in to the company and speak to a live tech support rep with this issue, but the Platinum Support Line is for paid customers only. Please let me know. Thank you. Sincerely, J.G. I have Express Scribe Pro and even with an external sound card the highest volume setting is too low for me to hear audio. Sound is perfect with current set-up on other platforms on computer being used. Help!

I am currently using Express Scribe (and loving it!) for audio files and manually transcribing the files. I just started using the Speech To Text feature but it is horribly inaccurate. How do I train it to be more accurate? Can I or do I need another program?? I am not the one dictating so they are audio files, is this even possible? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated! Hi, I recently upgraded my computer to an iMac which runs OS Sierra. It is a late 2015 model I believe. I uploaded Express Scribe Pro and have been using it but since having it on this computer the sound quality is absolutely appalling. I'm having to listen to transcripts 4 or 5 times before sending them off, which has resulted in a decline in the amount of work I can take on and also, the work I do take on takes me through the night to finish. Which is, obviously less than ideal. The audio emits a whine throughout on Express Scribe, which gives me a headache, yet when I upload the same pieces of audio to other programs, such as Wavepad, the audio is crystal clear! I have tried using the special audio effects options and, if anything, they just seem to make it worse. It is driving me absolutely mad and I'm so cross that I wasted money and so much time and energy on a program that I, currently, cannot utilise! Can anyone help?!!! NB. I use an Infinity foot pedal and Sennheiser headphones with Express Scribe, just in case that info makes a difference!

I need to transcribe sign language videos - control video using foot pedal (stop, rewind 10 sec, play) so I can watch and type text of what is being said. I have Infinity IN-USB-2 foot pedal, tried downloading Express Scribe which recognizes the pedal, also Pedable which didn't recognize the pedal. I'm struggling with the process I had in mind: 1. Does Infinity IN-USB-2 foot pedal allow me to do this? 2. Can I transcribe a YouTube video? Or only open video files? 3. Needed functions: play, stop and auto backstep/loop i.e. going back 10 seconds. Would appreciate your input. Anyone out there who can tutor via Skype text or ? David

Hey. I'm a longtime user of Express Scribe with my Infinity USB 2.0 foot pedal. I'm trying to migrate from mac system 10.4 to 10.10 and I can't get Express Scribe to see that my foot pedal is plugged in. I have tried restarting several times. There doesn't seem to be any driver for mac, such as Pedalware, to use this Infinity foot pedal. All the drivers want to download .exe files, which are windows files. I have put several hours of googling into this problem, and I must admit having come across some many questionable download sites! Please help soon, as I have retired my 10.4 system.

I have files that will load on my desktop computer and play in Express Scribe, but on my laptop computer, the files will not load, stating they are encrypted, looking for a decryption key. I have verified that these files are not encrypted and they do in fact play on my desktop without a decryption key. Does anyone know how to fix this problem to get these files to load without a decryption key? Again, I have been assured by the provider that he is not encrypting the individual files so there is no decryption key to enter. My two systems are exactly alike, running Windows 7 Professional, IE 10, all settings exactly the same on both computers. HELP

I'm restoring my mac manually from backup. Have downloaded Express Scribe to new machine. Wondering if I am able to locate previously transcribed items on old machine and copy them over to the new one. If so, where could I find them. Many thanks!!

Hello! Thanks so much for helping out. I'm dissertating and use Express Scribe heavily to upload my audio files. Now I've gotten to the point where I have different types of audio files I'd like to organize somehow within E.S. How can I create folders and drag the audio files into them? Seems like such a simple task but I can't figure it out for the life of me... Thanks much, C

I've downloaded WavePad but I have absolutely no idea how to use it. All I'm looking to do is remove some interference from a recording that I made which is covering up the noise of the people speaking. Any help would be appreciated. I'm an Express Scribe user and have followed the usual guidelines to no avail.

I was about to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks but a dialogue box came up telling me Express Scribe is not compatible. I have two versions of ES at the moment that I use for different reasons, one is 4.05 and the other is 5.26. Could anyone tell me if either of these will work if I upgrade? I really need to be careful about this as I transcribe for a living. Thanks for any advice.

I just downloaded Express Scribe 5.59 in the last two days. It worked fine this morning, but this evening I cannot get any audio sound at all. The file is playing (the time counter goes) and I can play the file elsewhere on my computer and hear it fine, but there is no audio at all on Express Scribe. How do I fix this? The next day: Never mind. I just uninstalled Express Scribe and then re-installed it and it now plays audio.

This past week, I have been having problems with the digital player when I use Express Scribe. When the problem was first noticed, I was transcribing and the digital player started "skipping" and would slow down, and then would correct itself. However, it would return to the skipping and slowing down throughout the report. It became a BIG problem when I received a RUSH job. I was transcribing and then I encountered the dictation fast-forwarding on its own and then it would correct itself. The problem is that it went on throughout the report and by the time I was finished there were AT LEAST 15 markers where the digital player had performed in this way. I set markers through out the report (Examples: <13:39.9 to 13:50.8>; <14:08.2 to 14:16.0>; <14:56.0 to 15:05.0>, etc.). There were so many that I thought the doctor dictating was actually doing this, for whatever reason. What was really weird was during my edit after completion of the report, I went through each and every marker and once again, the fast forwarding would start and stop exactly where I marked it. I made sure to leave a note for my supervisor. I rec'd an email stating that she had no problems with the VF on her end and that I needed to check my equipment. I had just completed a report right before that one where the dictation was dragging and was very slow off and on throughout the report, but that report did not have any of the fast-forwarding incidents. It has affected my work production so I really need to troubleshoot and get it corrected. I was hoping someone could tell me if they have been through anything like this with Express Scribe. I have had the Express Scribe Pro v 5.52 for almost a year and this problem started within this past week. PLEASE HELP! I cannot afford to be missing any work. School is starting a week from next Monday! LOL! THANKS in advance

Within 1 week after I purchased and installed Express Scribe, it crashed my computer 3 times, each time I tried to do it again to make sure it was because of the ES, and after 3 times, I am totally sure about that. I totally lost my confidence about your product, and it came with so many junk software shortcuts... but you do NOT allow refund!!! I don't understand this. I WILL NEVER BUY ANY SOFTWARE FROM YOU AGAIN !!!!!!!

Win 7 64 bit, Pro purchased and installed, licensed and registered appropriately. But the USB-2 Infinity foot pedal only showed up for a few seconds, both in the Test window and in Play Functions, but just for a few seconds, then stopped forever. I deleted the Pro ES, reinstalled, same thing. Whenever I restarted the computer, the Infinity pedal worked for a few seconds and stoped, again and again. Must be software problems. Please help. Thank you.

I have a .WMV file saved in my videos folder that won't even show up when I try to load it onto express scribe! I go into the folder and it's not even shown on the list. It's two hours long, is that why? If yes, what can I do about it? I desperately need an answer ASAP. Oh, and I have the Pro version. Thank in advance!!!

I just downloaded express scribe (trial version), and when I tried loading a file it told me that it can't create a copy because it's copyrighted or there is not enough memory on my computer. I made sure it's not copyrighted, can it really be that I don't have enough memory on my computer? I cleaned out my TEMPS folder not too long ago...And it plays normally in Windows Media Player. How can I tell if I don't have enough memory, and how can I fix it? Thanks in advance!
