  1. Borate, trying XP in compatibility mode worked!!!!!!!!!! You're my hero!!!!!!!! Now I can resume my old projects and get them out of the way before trying a new VP edition. Speaking of which ... I was temporarily experimenting with 8.91. I noticed immediately that when you crop, the resulting clip isn't recentered by VP. How can I recenter it so as to maintain the original theatrical black bars?
  2. No, it's Win10 that I wanted it to be compatible for. But alas that can't be altered. 🙁 Thanks, both of you. Question: What was the next edition of VP following 2.41? Maybe I could install that on Win10 and it might still load my 2.41 projects in "normal" fashion.
  3. Thanks for the reply, Borate. Yeah, the project opens - but the sequencing is screwed. All the files are there, but the cuts are at different lengths or different spots from how they were cut in 2.41.
  4. Yeah, you read that correctly: version 2.41. My old computer - running on Windows 7 - died recently, and of course the new one came with Win10. But you can't install VideoPad 2.41 on Win10. Therefore after all this time being supremely content with 2.41, I now have to upgrade VideoPad. Okay, fine, I can adapt to a new version. But the real problem is: what version(s) of VideoPad will load projects I made in 2.41??????? Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. First--yes, I can confirm that (a) both audio soundtracks are displayed in the timeline, and (b) I've tried loading other items that I knew had no problems playing in other applications. However--Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!--it's fixed! When I had first installed 6.01 to try it out, I remember that just before closing it I had set VP's own volume control to zero, cuz I didn't want to annoy my wife who was also in the room watching TV. Then I closed the program, later uninstalled it, reinstalled 2.41, and found I had no volume in the old program. So, just now, on a whim, I reinstalled 6.01, made sure the volume level was turned up to full, THEN used Revo to uninstall 6.01 - and THIS time used the "Advanced" scan rather than just "Moderate" - THEN reinstalled 2.41, and everything's back to normal!!! So, Revo really was the key, as it turns out. Thanks for suggesting it. The Advanced scan saved the day!!!!!!!
  6. Okay, ran Revo, deleted all the VP files and folders it showed me, including one registry item . . . then reinstalled 2.41 . . . and still no sound. Next steps . . . ?
  7. Thank you, borate. I'll let you know if this worked.
  8. Appreciate that! Does Revo itself do the entire uninstall - or do I just use Revo for cleanup after the regular uninstall process?
  9. I've been using 2.41 for a long time and have been mostly happy with it, but the other day I decided to give 6.01 a try. It wasn't fully compatible with projects I had begun in 2.41, so I figured I'd just revert back to 2.41 and then in the future I could upgrade to the latest version when starting a new project. Simple, right? So in my first attempt at downgrading back to 2.41, the program asked if I wanted to "downgrade to the previously installed version," so naturally I clicked "Yes." That appeared to give me back 2.41. However, when I loaded my project, although every element in the timeline was still showing -- there was no sound! So I decided to do a full uninstall, and then reinstall 2.41 from the downloaded exe. file I have. But still no sound when I load a project!! I thought, well, maybe there's just some random computer glitch and I should reboot. So I rebooted, but nothing had changed; still no sound. What the heck????????
  10. Nat, please help me out! I decided to uninstall 6.01, then reinstall 2.41. The first go-round, the program asked if I simply wanted to downgrade to the previously installed version, so I clicked "Yes." That appeared to give me back 2.41. However, when I loaded my project, everything looked normal but there was no sound! So I decided to do a full uninstall, and then reinstall 2.41 from the downloaded exe. file I have. But still no sound when I load a project!! What the heck???
  11. Okay, gave it an initial shot. It loaded the project i'm working on, but when I tried rendering it there were sound drop-outs. It was as if I hadn't edited those spots or something. Why would it do that? Does it have something to do with the render settings?
  12. Thanks, Nat. I've never had a registration code for VP; I've only ever used free versions. Opening my latest VP project in Notepad gave me this in the first line: "version=5hindex=397368folders=1" Will that, or lack of registration numbers, cause a problem?
  13. Hi, all. Haven't posted here in a while. I've been making do with 2.41 for several years now, never being quite satisfied with newer versions. But now I'm thinking of upgrading to the latest edition. I have 2 questions: If I upgrade to the latest, will it import semi-completed projects made on 2.41? And if I don't like the upgrade and want to switch back, do I simply uninstall the latest VP and then reinstall 2.41? Thanks in advance!
